The Village of Itasca is seeking a Customer Service Representative. Under the general supervision of the Finance Director, the Customer Service Representative is a key position in the Administration Department responsible for providing general support at the Village Hall front desk with a primary focus on excellent customer service, accurate data entry and routine administrative work.
Essential Duties
- Serve as the front-line customer service staff of the Village Hall by providing answers regarding utility billing, refuse, commuter parking, permitting, licensing, and other Village matters to the public.
- Promptly and courteously answer and route incoming Village phone calls, front-counter inquiries and emails as customer demand and staffing requires.
- Cashier for payments, including those for utility bills, building permits, business licenses, contractors licenses, parking permits, fines and all other payments/revenue received.
- Reconcile daily cash drawer receipts. Prepare daily bank deposits as needed.
- Issue petty cash for the Village Hall and reconcile the petty cash drawer for replenishment.
- Receive, stamp and distribute incoming mail and drop box payments.
- Assist with issuing over-the-counter permits and releasing other permits.
- Intake permits and plan review requests to appropriate staff.
- Process applications for the annual business license renewal and assist with processing new business applications.
- Assist with contractor registration.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
- Provide excellent internal customer service for Village employees in need of assistance.
- Perform other departmental assignments as directed.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of office, cashier/cash handling, and customer service experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The starting salary for this position is $50,000 +/-DOQ plus an excellent benefits package including IMRF pension participation.
