As ILCMA members seek to better serve our diverse communities and create a more inclusive and welcoming association, the ILCMA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is identifying and implementing concrete steps to move toward those goals. The committee’s membership is a broad representation of professionals at all levels of ILCMA member communities across the state. Since official formation in 2021, the committee’s achievements include:
- Passage of the association’s Values Statement Regarding DEI
- Update to the association bylaws, redefining Manager’s in Career Transition
- Continued efforts to further update the bylaws to improve diversity among committee (the Executive Committee produced the following letter and survey result report pertaining to the April 2024 bylaw vote
- Expansion of DEI-related content in the ILCMA newsletter
- Graduation of first class of the Learning and Operationalizing Racial Equity (LORE) program
- Improved outreach to underrepresented groups in the association.
