The Village of Glen Carbon is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Operation Manager. The position under the direction of the Public Works Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the department and provides managerial support for the Public Works Director.
Primary duties include but are not limited to; supervision and support of the division superintendents (Parks, Streets and Water Utility); assists with day to day operations; oversees the GIS Program, MS4 Program and Safety Program; provides after-hours and weekend assistance for public works emergencies; rotates on-call SCADA duties on a weekly basis; assists with budget preparation; represents department at various committee, board and community meetings on behalf of the Director as needed; assist with personnel decisions and actions; and responds to public inquiries.
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate’s degree in related field is preferred as well as an IEPA Water Treatment Class C Certification. Candidates must also have five (5) or more years of experience in public works operations including streets, water utilities and parks departments. Candidates must have strong communication/interpersonal skills; ability to handle technically complex public works operations activities; ability to deal effectively with public inquiries and complaints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, department directors, contractors, and the public; ability to interpret construction plans; be proficient in MS Office applications and knowledge of GIS; and must have supervisory experience.
The Village of Glen Carbon offers an outstanding benefits package and salary range is $84,337.43 – $96,144.67 dependent on experience and qualifications.
